Our Department's purpose is dedicated to providing our community with divisions, services, and activities that will enrich the lives of our residents. Our staff is committed to improving our City’s parks and recreational facilities by providing a safe environment for families to enjoy. By creating destinations within our own neighborhood, we are proud to say “It Starts in Parks”.
To provide a wide variety of services, recreational activities and special events for youths, adults and senior residents to enhance the quality of life for Miramar residents.
The Parks and Recreation Department comprises of the following programs:

Administrative Division is responsible for providing the overall strategic planning and organizational leadership for the Department while collaborating with the other divisions to provide supervision and administrative support and guidance.

Aquatics Division primarily focus on water safety and drowning prevention. We also offer numerous classes and programs which are conducted by trained personnel.

Athletics Division is responsible for coordinating a variety of youth/adult athletic programs and events and also oversees the four (4) non-profit sport organizations in Miramar: Miramar Optimist, SWBJAA, Miramar Lions and Miramar P.A.L.

Miramar Regional Park encompasses 173 acres that provides a multitude of recreational opportunities for the residents of Miramar and the surrounding Broward County communities.

The City of Miramar has four (4) recreational facilities that are responsible for offering fitness memberships, classes and programs for residents of all ages, as well as after school and summer camp programs for children and teens. Each facility have rooms available for rent for birthday parties, wedding receptions, quinces and more.
