Programming Conference Showcase Offerings Cultural Center/ArtsPark
4/8/2008, by City of Miramar, City Beat Newsletter
The City of Miramar is making great progress on the construction of the exciting project (scheduled to open in early 2009). Everyone is working diligently behind the scenes on the Center's operations in conjunction with its new partners in theatre management, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The center's programming will be one of the most important reasons people will enjoy this facility. Preparation to bring engaging programs for the performing arts center begins at annual booking conferences. Together with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts programming staff members, Michael Carr and Jill Kratish, the City sent a delegation led by Assistant City Manager of Operational Services, Vernon Hargray, as well as Camasha Cevieux and Lowell Borges to the Performing Arts Exchange (P.A.E.) booking conference held this year in Louisville, Kentucky. At the conference, City of Miramar delegates attended the State of Florida Presenter meetings, where Florida’s state and local performing arts centers shared updates on their facilities and discussed programming ideas that work in their respective areas. The group also had one-on-one discussions with performance artists and their representative companies and previewed potential programming ideas for the City's NEW Cultural Center ArtsPark, "Where Community and Culture Converge"™. The annual conference was facilitated by the Southern Arts Federation, providing presenters, touring artists, and agents with ideas and inspiration to promote professional development and business opportunities. It is recognized alongside the National Association of Performing Arts Presenters (NAPAP) Conference as one of the most frequented opportunities to research potential programming for performing arts centers such as the new Miramar Cultural Center ArtsPark.
