Miramar 9/11 Remembrance Monument

This project serves as a tribute of remembrance honoring the people who lost their lives as a result of the terror attacks on September 11, 2001.  The memorial is located at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway, along the lake on the West after park entry.

The project consists of two paved promenades.  One features two steel beams secured by the City, removed from the rubble at ground zero following the collapse of the twin towers. These are complimented by a black Obsidian Stone shroud.  The area is then connected with a Zenlike courtyard bridge to the adjacent area displaying a Veteran’s Monument which is an obelisk made of Obsidian Stone that will stand over 21 feet tall and is surrounded by benches. The area is further complimented with stone detail and landscaping.

The City’s Project Manager is Rohan Green.  CPH Corporation is the architect engineer of record.  JZT Utilities, Inc. is the contractor retained by the City, a minority owned firm.  The project commenced in the Fall of 2021 and is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2023.  The project budget is $1,025,000.

Persons interested in becoming a part of the memorial can sponsor a name engraved brick paver or a bench at the site.  For more information regarding this element of the project, please contact Ms. Edna LaRoche at (954)602-3198 or .
