Born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1957, Sydia Reyes is a Venezuelan-American sculptor whose powerful works have shaped public art landscapes across Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Asia. Now based in Miami, she brings over three decades of experience creating large-scale sculptures and installations that explore ecological, social, and human themes.
Her multidisciplinary approach blends sculpture, video, and site-specific interventions that engage directly with public spaces. Reyes has completed more than 20 large-scale projects and received numerous international awards, including the 2015 International Public Art Sculpture Prize in Fuzhou, China, and honors from UNESCO and AICA.
A graduate of the Armando Reverón Art School in Venezuela, her work has appeared at major art events and museums worldwide. Reyes believes in the power of public art to foster reflection, dialogue, and connection within communities.
