Windows to Our World

Windows To Our World nestled within MCC’s botanical garden uses the buildings’ architectural indentations as a canvas to highlight Hispanic Heritage, Black History, the Environment and Caribbean Heritage with murals crafted by local artists on an annual basis. 

Hollywood based artist, Ktano will be MCC’s 2026/27 featured public artist. Ktano’s work will be made all the more special as for the FIRST time ever murals in this installation will include augmented reality; allowing them to not only to be revered but COME TO LIFE with animation, historical facts, and interactive features.

Ktano is a Hollywood based professional muralist, graffiti artist, and painter known for blending bold creativity with unique urban influences. His work spans large-scale murals, expressive street art, and detailed canvas paintings, offering a dynamic fusion of modern and traditional styles. Each piece reflects his passion for storytelling through color, form, and movement, making his art both impactful and thought-provoking.

C.L.R. James (Caribbean Heritage)

C.L.R. James (1901–1989) was a Trinidadian historian, writer, and revolutionary thinker whose work shaped Caribbean identity and global political thought. His seminal book, The Black Jacobins, chronicled the Haitian Revolution and became a cornerstone of postcolonial literature. A Marxist and Pan-Africanist, James championed anti-colonial movements and cultural empowerment. His writings on cricket, especially Beyond a Boundary, fused sport with social critique, redefining Caribbean intellectualism. James’s activism and scholarship laid the groundwork for independence movements and cultural pride across the Caribbean, making him one of the region’s most influential voices.

Antonia Pantoja (Hispanic Heritage)

Antonia Pantoja (1922–2002) was a pioneering Puerto Rican educator, social worker, and civil rights activist. She founded ASPIRA, a national organization empowering Latino youth through education and leadership development. Her tireless advocacy for Puerto Rican rights in the U.S. led to the creation of multiple institutions, including Boricua College and the Puerto Rican Forum. Pantoja championed bilingual education and cultural pride, transforming lives across generations. In 1996, she became the first Puerto Rican woman awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Her legacy continues to inspire Hispanic communities to aspire, organize, and lead with dignity and purpose.

Mary Burnham is a pioneering marine biologist whose groundbreaking work in coral reef restoration transformed global conservation efforts. In the Florida Keys, she developed innovative techniques to rehabilitate damaged reefs, including coral fragmentation and nursery cultivation, which are now standard practices worldwide. Her research helped revive ecosystems devastated by bleaching and climate change, restoring biodiversity and coastal resilience. Burnham’s legacy lives on in thriving coral habitats and the scientists she mentored. Her vision and dedication have made her a global leader in marine restoration, proving that science and stewardship can heal even the most fragile environments.

A three-time world heavyweight champion, Ali’s brilliance in the ring was matched by his courage outside it. He converted to Islam, refused the Vietnam War draft on moral grounds, and became a powerful voice for civil rights. Stripped of his titles, he stood firm, inspiring millions with his integrity and eloquence. Ali’s legacy transcends sport—he embodied Black excellence, resilience, and activism. His life remains a testament to the power of conviction and the fight for justice.
